Desert-shore girl
04:39
|
|||
Amelia creatures, great and small
highly interested, or maybe not at all
in seeing their reflection in the water
when there is no light...
desert-shore girl, the tide is moving in
the cusp just behind her, the shells dig her skin
she left today with a promise, she would not fall apart
but leave with something more, picked up from the desert-shore
toll-ferry girl, picking up pieces, leaving town
this can't wait till Sunday, the tide will bring me down
I'll be torn part and cut, like a sandy knife on a coconut
my heart beats fast, my head is sore
in ecstasy on desert-shore
la la la
variable open storytelling part:
---------------------------------------
pancakes grits in a very sad mood
the shrimp didn't want to be thought of as food
so left the island and the waitress was poor
now swims with mythical serpents
far from desert-shore
(now swims with oil covered serpents
down on desert-shore)
*kookaburra sits on the old gum tree...
there's a lush thrush in the kitchen and she's fixing us bread
a feather on the grill and coconut oil spill
she opens the pot,
those eggs so hot
we turn around and lushy thrush is dead
lalala
back to Altamaha, the point of no turning back
where excess Georgia energy leaves us for the open sea
nest your hand in mine at 70 miles per hour
with our hair in the wind over marsh and open sand
we're going faster, just a moment more
(x3)
and then we'll be on the cusp of desert-shore!

3/10/06 automatiick apprehensive stolen hearttt
I can hear bells ring betwween the sheets of my eyeliner headboard
tears they are shaking as my heart is breaking
yes you have stolen but I'll find a way out if I try
hard enough and down close my eyes
Laying on sunlight golden fields with my lover
dreams I have every night up here alone
dreams soft blankness creak thru wood floors
I can hear everything and I cannot speak loudly
I can feel everything and I'll wake up cold
civilized productive adult world is cold
and I could not leave it until my soul was sold
Disappear into worlds of pretty girls and clearance sails
Not like when boys say 'come home with me' on a limb
I cannot trust them...
But I am receptive, I always have been, and I take
A piece of you with me and let it absorb in my skin
I want to disappear...
When I am traveling, when I am gone
Driving for hours without a home
Somewhere ahead is a decent time zone
Somewhere around this body was found
whom got lost along the way
with all stars and clutter trash
and notebooks and pictures
and furniture (ALabama) just waiting to be set on fire!
extra verse not sung:
Somewhere ahead is a gas station with a strange story
they will remember me long after I am gone
Somewhere between here and Alabama
I look forward to sleeping alone

a cat named magic

|

a Wewa cat named Magic yesterday
choked on a poison chicken
fresh from old man Wallace's yard
as I mourn I see Magic once again
restin' high up in the Tupelo
his long tail swingin' in the breeze below
I ask him if he remembers
the day he showed up at my door
and if he'll come back to visit anymore
he says "I once heard 'thou shalt love thy neighbor'
and 'the land is yours and all of ours to share.'
You think I'm dead, but I'm not going anywhere.
You think I'm dead, but I'm not going anywhere!"

i dreamed i was on a trip in australia
walking on landscaped rocks two miles twice a day
from residence hall under family tree
by the round waterfront maybe port philip bay?
an uncle sharing obsession with our history
he had been working and needed to show me
i looked for Sibyl but her name wasn't there
could he have possibly known her too?
i saw her in the record store that too brighton sunny afternoon
3:00 pm ish
she told me we were 3rd cousins at least
chrysanths in a suburban garden
growing together under the same tree
polly's grow grow grow* she sang for me
this the new anthem of our country
this the new anthem of our country
we can be together
out in the streets making a difference in this world
i've got a protest for us to go to
look girl I said
I have to catch the bus now and be back before dark
so come by my room tonight and bring some beer ok?
i mentioned perline in the shadow of her school
and a band I loved named litany
and dances on rainy days back home
and this is where I could have been living
this is where she should have stayed
if not for that beanpole soldier named leslie
what was he doing down here anyway?
1947 that was the year
1947 that was the year

ALSACE
07:13
|
|||
Elisa I am running
down the road
through golden fields
wildflowers
ponts couverts
and an astronomical clock
from the city of streets
je suis seul; recherche une jeune femme pour une relation
je suis en Alsace...au jourd'hui
mais je serai aux Bruxelles a demain
I have all the qualities you are looking for, but twice as many flaws... ;-)
I dreamt I fell into a war, but I think I am the cause...
I don't know much about this place
I don't remember I just wish I were gone
I wish I were back home but I can hear them getting closer
les soeurs Renard, they are waiting for me
The women of Alsace are not a political party, but a people's movement

as I wake up one morning in my country house
with a long list of failed appointments and un-achieved goals
I open up the tea cabinet behind piles of old spell books
and issues of Southern Living magazine...
his mind may be yellow but I'va crush on this fellow
he comes ev'ry win'tr deep inside of me
plants new trees, decorates the evergreens
and switches on a light down there so I can see...
I've got a girl who's in charge of the moon and the
Garlands that hang down the sides of my dress
she'll keep me warm as long as she's on
but when fall comes she makes a big mess...
[her name is sweet Valeri-ann
she signed her highschool yearbook with her own blood
but she still hangs her number on my fridge]
sub ["Lusty Month of May" Camelot interlude]
I've got a cat, his name's Christian Bale
I keep him in a jar and put him in my coffee when I'm
In the mood for something natural and sweet
He's mostly black, and tastes like Anise
Sweet Pimpinella loves sewing and hoeing
Carolers everywhere are singing her song
but Southern Baptists are praying for mercy
on the trail of her Garlands that are forty feet long!
she swept through [conservative Christian politician]'s campaign headquarters
and interstate traffic on Friday afternoon
each night there's a place Her admirers gather
around the corner, under the next full moon

fleamarket girl

|
|||
leaf in the wind
this fleamarket girl needs a place in the material world
cause I'm falling, ...very....slowly
oh, fleamarket girl
oh wind, blow me around
through grey suburbs and down to the park
i'll float on clouds, mild flowers till about the time it gets dark...and summer needs to come again
when touched by an angel, we're wicked into wind tunnels
and the air smells like spring again - or summer - when we met
standing on the banks of the Altamaha-ha-ha
and i was like
leaf in the wind, leaf in the wind,
maybe someday i'll find my place,
till then i don't know, just gotta go with the flow
and influence the wind
that blows me around
this fleamarket girl
oh, fleamarket girl
the wind that blows me around
and if i find my way home
dust
