The title is a play on "SIC ITUR AD ASTRA" (so we journey to the stars), a phrase used by Virgil in his Aeneid (written 29-12 BCE) and more recently as the motto for multiple colleges, inviting the seeker to excel and reach their goals.
In winter of 2021-22, the thick gray clouds and cold had set in over the cities, and I (Ari) wished for the clear star-filled sky and the euphoria of climbing a mountain. I was studying Latin at the time, so I wrote this poem as my goal, inspired by the phrase, and eventually did reach the starry sky by April.
BUT THE STARS DON"T SHINE, THEY BURN.
Musically, Sundog and I create a pulsing trip across the waters and up the mountain (with a magic radio and good batteries) with only minor blisters.
